Description
This traditional Italian globe shaped beetroot has dark green leaves and deep red stems. When sliced unusual red and white rings are exposed, adding an attractive element to the salad plate. Sweet taste. Suitable for use in salads or as a hot vegetable.
Sowing Time: Sow seeds from mid March to July, or under glass in January to February to crop May onwards.
Germination: Germinates at 8 - 25°C.
Sowing Instructions: Pre-soak the seeds in warm water 1 hour before sowing (This will help to speed up germination). Sow seeds outdoors very thinly in drills 3cm (1 in) deep in rows 30cm (12in) apart.
Growing Instructions: When the seedlings are big enough to handle thin them out to 10cm (4in) apart.
After Care: Pull the beetroot when the roots are 1 1/2" in diameter or bigger.
