Description
Well known for its tolerance of Carrot Root Fly. It is not attractive to the egg laying flies, and the maggots do not grow well on it. Flyaway has good shape, good colour and a smooth skin.
Sowing Time: Sow seeds between April to June
Germination: Germinates at 8 - 30°C.
Sowing Instructions: Sow seeds outdoors from April in a rich, well drained soil which does not contain fresh manure or compost. Sow seeds in drills 1cm (½in) deep, spaced 30cm (12in) apart.
Growing Instructions: When the seedlings are large enough to handle, start thinning them out so that they are finally 10cm (4in) apart.
After Care: As the carrots grow push soil up over any exposed roots.
